Chiswick House was a modest home overlooking the River Thames. In 1726 Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington commissioned a major radical building programme which constituted a grand villa in the Palladian style. Today the villa and its adjacent buildings are classed as a scheduled ancient monument, housing a museum for 18th Century works of art managed by English Heritage.

CBR Limited was awarded the phase 3 contract by English Heritage for the restoration works to the link building and summer parlour. The contract is scheduled for completion in late March 2007.

The works consisted of new roof coverings to the link building using set aside Westmoreland slates from the existing covering, new lead flashings and introduction of eaves ventilation.

The facades had minor stone replacement in Hartham Park Bath Stone and Coombefield Portland all dressed on site to match the original features as well as Woodkirk Yorkstone paving and remedial substrate waterproofing to the portico above the villa main entrance.

Some areas of the villa were rendered and replacement renders were undertaken in hydraulic lime, as were some areas of minor mortar repairs and pointing.

Keim mineral paint was used on the rendered areas for decoration to match the villa, where as the timber windows, doors and balconies were painted in utilizing the Dulux Heritage Range.

The 2 timber balconies on the North West and South East elevations were showing signs of rot, the North West having minor replacements where as the South West was completely replaced including the cantilevered substructure which had been undermined by wet rot and beetle infestation.
